Self-guided hiking in France
All of our hiking holidays in France include hand-picked accommodation, luggage transportation, detailed walking notes and maps.
The French countryside is criss-crossed by a staggering 120,000 km of sentiers balisés (marked walking paths), which pass through every imaginable terrain in every region of the country. Challenges range from hiking Corsica’s untamed interior to timeless pilgrim trails and more relaxing strolls through the vineyards and lavender fields of Provence or the rolling hills and medieval villages of the Dordogne.
If it’s an Alpine trek you’re looking for, the world-famous Tour du Mont Blanc starts and finishes in the ski resort of Chamonix, taking in spectacular high mountain trails and crossing into Switzerland and Italy on a thrilling 11-day hike. For a shorter holiday, the Mercantour National Park also offers stunning mountain hiking, with the added benefit of being easily accessible by public transport from Nice.
From picture-perfect mountain villages to the sunshine and glamour of the Côte d’Azur, France has hiking holidays for every taste.
